Shoulder

Chiropractors can assist with various shoulder issues, particularly those stemming from mechanical dysfunction or posture-related problems. Conditions such as rotator cuff tendinitis, shoulder impingement, frozen shoulder, and shoulder instability may benefit from chiropractic care through joint adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and corrective exercises. Chiropractors can also address referred shoulder pain originating from the neck or upper back. Common treatment methods include spinal and shoulder adjustments, myofascial release, posture correction, and rehabilitation exercises.

A retrospective case series of 50 patients with frozen shoulder syndrome who received chiropractic treatment reported significant improvements. Patients experienced a median change in pain score of −7 on the Numeric Pain Rating Scale, with 16 cases resolving completely and 25 showing 75% to 90% improvement in shoulder abduction. https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/23843759/

Elbow

Chiropractic care can be effective for managing elbow pain caused by conditions like tennis elbow, golfer’s elbow, joint dysfunction, or nerve irritation referred from the neck or shoulder. Treatments typically involve joint adjustments, soft tissue therapy, strengthening exercises, and ergonomic guidance. Chiropractors may also address nerve issues such as ulnar nerve entrapment through posture correction and mobilization.

Wrist

Chiropractic care can be beneficial for managing certain types of wrist pain, particularly those related to joint dysfunction, nerve irritation, or overuse injuries. Conditions such as carpal tunnel syndrome, wrist tendonitis, and joint misalignments may respond well to chiropractic interventions. Treatment often includes wrist and spinal adjustments, soft tissue therapy, nerve mobilization techniques, and exercises to improve strength and flexibility. Chiropractors may also address referred pain from the neck or upper back, which can contribute to wrist symptoms. While not a primary treatment for structural issues like ganglion cysts or advanced arthritis, chiropractic care may help reduce stress on surrounding joints and maintain mobility. Although clinical research is limited, available evidence and case reports suggest chiropractic treatment can offer pain relief and functional improvements in select wrist conditions.

Arm Pain

Chiropractic care can help relieve arm pain caused by nerve irritation, joint dysfunction, or overuse injuries. Conditions like cervical radiculopathy, tendonitis, and thoracic outlet syndrome often respond to spinal and joint adjustments, soft tissue therapy, and corrective exercises. These treatments aim to reduce pain, improve mobility, and restore proper nerve function. While more research is needed, current evidence and case reports suggest chiropractic care can be effective for managing certain types of arm pain.
